A Note From The L.A. Teen Therapist
Did you know that your perception of situations and other people creates your experience? – Sandra
Start noticing when you are feeling angry, sad, anxious, or hurt. By putting a name on a negative emotion you can then begin to do something about it. What can you do to change what you are feeling? Should you speak to someone, or simply walk away? Would there be value in talking with someone you trust to hear another point of view?
In a moment of upset, one of the best things you can do is to be kind to yourself. Take the energy that might have been negatively focused on the person that is upsetting you, and do something nice for yourself.
Negative feelings are a normal part of life. Staying stuck in negative feelings is not. You actually have the power to change the way you experience life!
